Courseware Newsletter Getting More Customers in Tough Times

In spite of the current economy--recession or not--customers are always looking for ways to get more value out of their training dollar. Below are ideas that are "win/win" for the firm and the customer.

Corporate belt-tightening often targets training budgets as expendable fat. But there's plenty of ways to squeeze more from lean training budgets, which is much better than simply eliminating training altogether. Consider encouraging your customers to continue their investment through these strategies:


  • Enrolling multiple students. As a training firm you'll typically give a price break. If a customer has a small organization and doesn't have multiple students, have them explore the possibility of working with business associates with similar training needs.


  • Consider using block enrollments. Provide discounts for purchasing a block of enrollments at one time. These might be used during the course of a year but provides you cash up front and gauranteed business in exchange for the discount.


  • Conduct the training in-house. When customers need to train six or more people, its typically more economical to purchase training for a flat fee instead of the more typical "per student" fee.


  • Encourage customers to look for special promotions in your newsletter (if you don't have a newsletter, start one!). By having customers engaged in your newsletter, you have an economical way to drive enrollments for upcoming classes that have incremental revenue and profit.


  • Finally, ask customers to be flexible. For example, they could offer to send employees to one of several training sessions during the next few months in exchange for discounts. You could then put these employees in a class that is being held with open seats. In this way, the customer gets a better price and you do it through unused capacity — similar to a cyber-saver program.

The course will begin by exposing attendees to the syntax and semantics of the C# programming language and Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts. Students will gain an understanding of the .NET type system (classes, structures, enums, interfaces and delegates), assembly configuration, file IO operations and the role of type metadata. Once the foundational topics have been addressed, the remainder of the class will introduce the role of Windows Forms, ADO.NET, XML web services and ASP.NET.
